The Fourth of July is symbolic of many things. While some Americans view the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence as a day of celebration, we at BOWL PAC view it as a call to action.
Simply put, we are still not free.
- We are not free under a government that polices what we do with our bodies
- We are not free under a government that arrests us for possession of a plant
- We are not free under a government that does not respect our individual choices.
Marijuana reform is symbolic of the ongoing fight for individual liberties. Today, on average, 960 people will be arrested for possession. Most of them will be either poor or Black.[1]
So however you choose to spend your 4th, I want you to consider what will come tomorrow. Because it will be another 960 arrests. And the day after that. And the day after that…
Only together can we save ourselves.
Solidarity,
Justin
