We didn’t win… this time

Allies,

Mitch McConnell just killed a bipartisan deal that would have expunged tens-of-thousands of marijuana convictions and allowed the emerging legal cannabis industry access to bank accounts.

Even though more than ten Republican Senators joined Democrats to support this critical legislation, McConnell continues to stand in front of history screaming ‘STOP!’

This fight clearly isn’t over, and we’re not going to let Mitch McConnell continue to stand in our way. Will you help us fight back by making a contribution to BOWL PAC today?

How did McConnell manage to kill the deal? To be honest, despite having well more than 10 Republican supporters in the Senate, they wouldn’t dare not cross him on an up-or-down vote so that allowed Mitch to stop it from getting into the final year end spending bill.

But while we did not win this time, if enough Senate Republicans are willing to defy McConnell next time, we can win. We already know Republicans are willing to stand with their constituents to support expungement, banking reform, small business fairness, and fairness for veterans. We can do this.

But we can only win if pro-reform candidates get the support they need when they take on incumbent prohibitionists. Will you be a part of this moment and fight for legalization and support pro-cannabis candidates by making a contribution today?

DONATE

Because truly, despite this latest setback, it has been a very productive year for marijuana reform in Congress. The House of Representatives passed the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act this April, and we helped influence the Senate introduction of the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act (CAOA) this July.

We know that nothing is a given, and that every future victory will be harder than the last. So thank you for being a supporter.

In Solidarity,

Justin
